Whitworth Dies at 80 Aboard En Route to Little Rock
Harry C. Whitworth, 80, died en route to Little Rock and was pronounced dead on arrival at a Malvern hospital from a suspected heart attack. A retired railroad man, Mason, Shriner, and longtime deacon of the First Christian Church, he leaves wife Mary McLemore Whitworth and two daughters, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Herndon chapel with Rev. Lawrence Reece officiating. burial in Memory Gardens under Herndon Funeral Home guidance.

Three car crash at Third and South Main Streets in Hope
At 12:55 p.m. a three car wreck involving local residents occurred at Third and South Main. Connie Walton, 18, was charged with following too closely after her car struck Tyra Spencer, 16, who struck Thomas McRoy, 37. No injuries were reported. Later, at 5:25 p.m., Valeska McRoy, 54, backed into Catherine Young, 20, at Village Shopping Center. McRoy’s vehicle had minor damage and no charges were filed by Officer John Willie Cooks.
