Dr. F. E. Morrison will lecture and present a five reel motion picture on the Passion from Oberammergau at 7 30 p m Monday night in the First Baptist church. The program includes scenes from Palatine made by Pathé and runs about one hour twenty minutes. No admission charge. a plate collection will cover expenses.
The government reports quelling a revolutionary plot linked to former Presidents Hipolito Yrigoyen and Marcelo de Alvear. With the danger neutralized, officials signal a possible state of siege to safeguard Buenos Aires, marking a period of heightened political stability since February.
Esau Palmer, 25, attempted to rob Oliver's Lunch on Front and Walnut by breaking a window. He used a tablecloth as a sack and stole bacon ham pies cakes and two onions but the cash register did not open. Officers Ward and Turner arrested him as he fled, Palmer saying he lived seven miles south of Hope.
A carload of sweet potatoes was shipped from Guernsey Saturday by C. S. Lowthorp & Co. of Hope, consigned to Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Lowthorp said it was the first car on which favorable terms could be obtained in many months.
State Comptroller Griffin Smith reported Hempstead County shows road cash of 208.52 with 64,032.89 warrants and 1,045.95 unallowed claims, while general fund cash is 5,545.53 with 2,148.53 warrants and 3,595.85 unallowed claims. Across 74 counties total general cash is 262,000 and warrants 1,578,000, averaging 3,500 and 21,300 per county respectively. Hempstead’s overdrawal partly stems from gasoline tax remittance delays and turnback allocations since October 1.

The Arkansas Supreme Court handed down twelve decisions Monday and adjourned until January 2 without taking any submissions. Representative Effigene Wingo of Arkansas left for Bridgeport Conn where his son Otis Jr was seriously injured in an automobile accident. Arrangements were made Monday for the House to act on the Jones bill to give 350000 bales of Federal Farm Board cotton to the Red Cross to alleviate cold among the unemployed.
The Goodfellows Fund stands at $10 with a city goal of $200 to $300 for needy cases. Street committees led by Ched Hall of the American Legion canvass downtown. Donations and goods, including food, are welcomed at The Star office, where gifts will be turned over to Legion committees.
The United States Chamber of Commerce urged the joint congressional veterans committee to cut 400 million dollars in war veterans expenditures. It insisted the cuts not reduce any disability payments or benefits to dependents of killed soldiers.
In Bethlehem pilgrims crowd the Church of the Nativity to pray and kiss the silver star set in the marble floor. The grotto marks the traditional birthplace of Christ drawing visitors from the region and beyond.
President Hoover plans to deliver his war debt message to Congress Monday afternoon after a conference with Secretary Stimson and Treasury Secretary Mills. Reports indicate Stanley Baldwin told Parliament the U S agreed to jointly examine the debt structure with Great Britain. Senate leaders await Hoover’s message before addressing Baldwin.
Luke Lea of Nashville Tennessee and his son Luke Lea Jr were denied review by the U S Supreme Court of the North Carolina high court's refusal to grant a new trial. They face ten year and six year terms respectively for conspiracy to defraud an Asheville bank.
Chairman Collier of the house ways and means committee predicted on Monday that the Democratic 32 percent beer bill would pass the house by Wednesday. The measure raises alcoholic content from 2.75 to 3.2 percent and authorizes a $5 per barrel tax to fund the federal budget under the Eighteenth amendment.
J. W. Harper announced Monday he would seek re election as city treasurer subject to the Democratic city primary January 24. He pledged to keep an office in city hall open at all times and cited his past record as his platform.
Cotton futures fell seven points on Monday with March contracts closing at 6.08. The session opened at 6.17 and posted a high of 6.19 and a low of 6.08 as May and March contracts moved within narrow ranges.
