1918 Peace Begins and the End of World War I
The Armistice in November 1918 ended World War I and began a readjustment era. Wilson attended the Paris peace conference starting January 1919 with Britain’s David Lloyd George, France’s Georges Clemenceau, and Italy’s Vittorio Orlando. The treaty included the League covenant, but the U.S. Senate rejected it amid rising isolationism.
