Thundershowers forecast for Arkansas this weekend

The Associated Press notes scattered thundershowers may occur in Arkansas through Saturday. Precipitation is likely in the afternoon and evening with a 20 percent chance today tonight and Saturday in the northwest. Elsewhere the chance is 40 percent today tonight and 30 percent Saturday.

Four Irish gunmen surrender after London hostage siege

Four Irish gunmen who held a man and wife hostage in a London apartment for nearly six days surrendered to police. A 53-year-old housewife, Sheila Matthews, was released by the captors on a balcony while her husband, 54, postal inspector John Matthews, remained captive. Scotland Yard said they refused safe conduct to Dublin and tied to recent bombings and shootings in London.

Dallas FBI chief denies Oswald letter memory

The retired Dallas FBI head J Gordon Shanklin told a House subcommittee he does not recall a threatening Oswald letter to an FBI receptionist or ordering it destroyed after Kennedy's assassination. Other agents confirmed or disputed his account while recounting testimony from Dallas receptionist Nanny Fenner who described Oswald's tense delivery and the letter referring to stopping talking to Mrs Oswald.
