Editor Alex H Washburn reports Our Daily Bread will view Compugraphic phototypesetting systems in Little Rock. The paper plans to upgrade to three automatic units by 1977, replacing manual scissors work and speeding color proofing with an automatic film developing processor.
State Police and Clark County deputies halted an eastbound I 30 car six miles north of Arkadelphia and found 90 pounds of marijuana. The haul in 15 days exceeds 200 pounds. Driver George T. Lewis of Marietta Ohio and passenger Michael Hunt of Newark Ohio are in Clark County Jail. Felony possession with intent to deliver charges to be filed. Marijuana value estimated at 175 dollars per pound.
In a rare joint hearing next week at Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Shiomos will hear rape and kidnapping charges involving Carl Butler and Earl Patterson. Butler is charged with rape robbery theft assault and indecent assault. Patterson is charged with kidnapping felonious restraint and related offenses after detaining Butler and claiming a citizen arrest.

Health officials report about 6000 Green County residents immunized by November 2 as CDC notes the outbreak concerns residents and experts.
Arkansas Governor David Pryor rejected a plan to assign cities and counties a fixed share of state general revenues. The Association of Arkansas Counties endorsed a constitutional amendment request at its Hot Springs convention, while backing Pryor’s Arkansas Plan for home rule and signaling distrust in fixed formulas.
