The Associated Press reports freezing temperatures again with Texarkana at 33 degrees staying above freezing. Lows are expected in the low 20s to upper 30s, with Pine Bluff at 32 and El Dorado at 25 as Thursday night lows.
Hope Star notes warmer readings expected Saturday with highs in the 50s to 60s after a mild Friday. No rainfall reported statewide in the last 24 hours and none expected for several days. State forecast calls for fair tonight, becoming partly cloudy Saturday with warmer temperatures and lows in the 20s to 30s. Experimental station reports a high of 49 and a low of 25 in the last 24 hours.

Three truck drivers from Indiana Rogers Kentucky and Arkansas were charged with improper parking obstructing traffic reckless driving and malicious mischief for blocking I-40 five miles east of Brinkley Arkansas. They posted $500 bonds and were released as twenty trucks initially blocked the highway to protest diesel prices and speed limits. Police reported no similar blockages since Tuesday.
Hope's new business, Hope Pet Shop, opens on Highway 67 East, offering tropical and exotic fish, aquariums, and pet supplies. Owner Ed Muncey, with over a year and a half in pet shops, highlights 45 show tanks and a variety of pets including guinea pigs hamsters alligators and birds.

USDA Outlook and Situation Board projects 1974 net farm income between 20 and 23 billion dollars, a cooling from 1973’s record of over 25 billion as higher costs and lower prices temper growth. Assets rise to about 454.3 billion on Jan 1, with possible 498 billion if rates moderate. Many farmers will borrow more despite high rates, backed by large cash balances and unsold inventories.

The Benton City Council unanimously dismissed Police Chief J. W. McClintock Jr. for neglect of duty effective immediately. Mayor Noel Butler Jr. said an alleged marijuana use matter was not discussed in a two hour closed session. Butler said the investigation aims to ensure department accountability and hinted at further personnel changes.
Troop 27 organized in Antioch with Benjamin Williamson Sr. and John Carrigan as organizers. Tomy Berry of Texarkana, district scout executor, led weeks of Hope group meetings and presented a film Beginners Film of Boy Scouts. Scouts signed include Kenneth Woodberry Charles Woodberry Danny Ray Williams Ricky Williamson Tony Williamson Benjamin Williamson Jr Jerry Snowden Terry Snowden Ricky Glasgow Vincent Flenery Kenneth Dixon Michael Dixon Chester Carrigan. The group aims for 24 scouts and discussed uniforms and equipment at the December 1 meeting.
