Baseball Trade Mart Opens Up

Four deals were completed at the winter meetings as the baseball trade market heated up. The Astros shipped Curt Blefary to the Orioles and sent Bob Aspromonte to Atlanta among several moves. Other trades involved Dooley Womack, Mike Kekich, and Andy Kosco, with players like Marty Martinez and Dick Simpson changing teams. Blefary, once Rookie of the Year, had slumped last season. Aspromonte and Kosco posted modest averages, while Kekich and Womack carried varying pitching marks. Two Hope Bobcats earned all district honors in football, Carroll Beck and Mickey Allen highlighted the list, with Allen also named top lineman. Rodney Jones received honorable mention.
