Alma Senator Jim Snoddy Dies at 68
James Richard Snoddy of Alma former state senator died Tuesday aged 68. A Coal Hill native, he served two Senate terms after being elected in 1942 and was executive secretary to Gov. Francis Cherry in 1953. He led the state Senate as secretary in 1947 1949 and 1951, and spent a decade on the State Board of Higher Education. He once taught school and had business interests in Alma and Van Buren. Funeral set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Smith.
