The National Weather Service said clouds moved into western Arkansas Sunday night and are expected to spread across the state today. Showers are forecast to develop as the cloud layer broadens across the region.
Western Arkansas and adjacent areas face thunderstorms tonight with cooler temperatures later.Expect highs in the upper 60s to around 70 today, then low 50s to mid 60s Tuesday. Overnight lows 40s to 50s, with showers ending from the west. Arkansas forecast includes rains in Pine Bluff El Dorado Texarkana Fayetteville Jonesboro Memphis Fort Smith. An Experiment Station report notes varied highs and lows across the 24 hour periods ending Saturday Sunday and Monday.

Juan Corona, 40, the California inmate convicted of murdering 25 migrant workers, survived a late Saturday night stabbing in his unlocked cell. Officials report 32 wounds, eye removal, chest and abdominal injuries, with four men in custody for questioning. Corona is expected to recover after surgery, with vision likely preserved in his right eye. His attorney says the attack was unprovoked and that Corona knew at least one assailant.
Funeral services for Mrs. C R Betts 80 were held at Buckner Methodist Church near Stamps with Rev Jimmie Seyers and Rev Joe Hunter officiating. Burial was in Buckner Cemetery. She died Sunday in a Hope hospital after a brief illness. Survivors include husband three sons a daughter brother sister 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Cora Crews 81 funeral held in Hern don chapel burial in Memory Gardens. She died Friday night in a Hope hospital.
David Ben-Gurion was buried beside Paula on Zin edge after large memorials in Jerusalem. An honor guard carried his flag covered coffin from a helicopter while thousands mourned at the Knesset plaza and in state broadcasts. His death at 87 followed a week of public tributes and security as crowds filed past the coffin.
Baptist women are observing a week of prayer for foreign missions with Mrs. Ralph E. Pyle Jr. as guest speaker at 6 30 p m Wednesday during prayer hour at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Pyle, formerly Martha Osborn, will discuss military wives contributions to missions. the Pyles have spent ten years in the Orient and are on furlough in Hope from Naples, Italy.
