Shock Fatal to Former Hope Woman

Mrs William Frank Martins death resulted from an electric shock at home in Nashville Arkansas while adjusting a television antenna on wet grass. The 42 year old mother of three was a Hempstead County native and member of the Nashville Literary Club and Junior Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband a son and two daughters her mother and a brother. Services are set for Wednesday at Latimer Funeral Chapel with burial in Nashville Cemetery.

LOS ANGELES AP all that stood between job seekers and 25000 jobs promised during a jobs action telecast today were long lines and red tape. The problem arose after state Employment Service offices, especially in Watts, were so jammed by prospective workers Monday that interviewers couldn't keep pace.

Rent Subsidy Measure Advances in Senate Appropriations

The Senate Appropriations Committee backed 40 million for rent subsidies and 537 million for the model cities program as part of a large 10.4 billion bill. Johnson called the programs vital to urban progress, with floor action planned this week. The housing subsidies would finance about 44,500 units for low income families, while model cities aids address housing, education, transportation, and related urban needs. The House had lower figures for model cities and provided no rent supplements. A conference to merge House and Senate versions is expected after full Senate action.

San Diego editor sentenced for marijuana smuggling

Bonnie Jo Bilyeu, 21, former managing editor of San Diego State College’s newspaper, was sentenced to six years in federal prison by Judge James Carter after pleading guilty to smuggling 44 pounds of marijuana at the Mexican border last January. The college board had recommended probation.
