Norfolk Arkansas voters approved a $2 million Act 9 bond issue to fund a new battery manufacturing plant by the Norfolk Manufacturing Co. near Norfolk. The project will employ about 300 people with a $2 million annual payroll and produce automobile and aircraft batteries. The company, a subsidiary of Ipsca Corp and Delta Mining and Milling Co of Las Vegas, Nevada, has bought a 60 acre site just north of town. The August 22, 1967 election saw overwhelming support despite 16 absentee ballots remaining uncounted.
