Government code raises prices for household refrigerators
Washington reports the OPA authorized about a six percent price increase for household mechanical refrigerators with standard boxes rising from $10 to $12. Consumers pay the higher prices once dealers receive refrigerators marked with new ceilings. The increase also allows 3.5 to 7.5 percent hikes on radios washing machines vacuum cleaners and other items. Absorption of 2.5 percent of prior increases by manufacturers is outlawed under the new law and part of the rise is tied to a recent price boost granted to manufacturers.
