Scattered Showers Expected In Arkansas This Week

An area of low pressure that brought heavy rains to Arkansas has moved eastward. Only scattered thundershowers are expected today and Wednesday as high pressure slowly regains control, according to the National Weather Service.

Retired minister dies here in local nursing home

Eugene M. Rooker, 81, died early Tuesday in a local nursing home. He was a retired minister and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one son Joe Rooker of Hope and one daughter Mrs. Jean Gage of New Orleans. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fifth and Grady Church of Christ with Mr. Milton Peebles officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Siv Arno LOS ANGELES (AP) Siv Arno, 79, actor in character and comedy roles in movies and on the stage, died Sunday.

Scholarship Awarded to Calvin Willis at Arkansas State Fair

Calvin Willis a senior at the University of Arkansas and 1971 Hope High School graduate received an Allied Poultry Industries Scholarship for 1975 76. Funds come from Allied Industries chicken booth at the State Fair in Little Rock with Willis aiding the program by booth work.

Twelve Arkansas nursing homes certified for Medicaid payments

Eu gene C. Spratt of the state Health Department said inspectors reviewed 12 nursing homes last week and certified all for continued Medicaid payments. One Little Rock home had initially failed to meet nurse and medication administration staffing rules but increased staff to comply before certification. The HEW announced that from July 29 any home violating medication administration by non professionals would lose Medicaid eligibility.

1974 75 Housing Authority year a good year for Hope

The 1974 75 year at the Housing Authority shows 190 families and elderly persons in Hope housed. The 140 units from the 1968 project and 50 new units since December 1974 produced 78423 in rental income with expenses 54135. Payment in lieu of taxes totaled 6796 distributed to schools, county, road, library and city. Residual receipts of 21600 paid toward bond indebtedness. About 6000 spent on improvements. The Douglas building hosted 240 uses and 7513 attendees.
