Program Will Determine Skill for Prairie Grove Students

Fletcher, 32, of Lincoln, was sentenced to life for first degree murder and 21 years for a related intent to kill after pleading guilty. Circuit Court accepted recommendations to avoid the death penalty. victims Deputy Sheriff Castro Robertson and Chief Deputy Maurice Southern were shot after arrests for rifle thefts. Fletcher was captured by state police hours later.

Rails Again Hit Near China Border

The U S Command said North Vietnamese forces shot down a U S Navy reconnaissance plane near the Chinese border while photographing damage from a prior raid. The two man crew was listed as 49 missing. The warplane was the 642nd lost in the conflict. B52 bombers attacked the DMZ and southern North Vietnam, while Navy and Air Force units conducted raids on Lang Son rail and highway bridges and other targets. Ground fighting near Saigon was minimal with no significant contacts in allied battalion operations.
