About 700 Army ROTC cadets at 293 colleges join an FAA approved Flight Training Program. Funded by Army ROTC, the program covers ground and air instruction, textbooks, navigational gear, flight clothing, and campus transport. Cadets receive 35 hours ground and 36 hours flight instruction in small planes, gaining navigation and solo flight hours.
