Elliot Roosevelt Seeks Release From Army Duty

Elliott Roosevelt, 34, who rose to brigadier general in under five years, asks to be released from active duty. He accumulated 278 discharge points during service in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Britain, and France, far above the required 85. The War Department sent the request to Gen H H Arnold but no action was taken. Reports said he was advised to retire amid publicity over loans he negotiated and his father’s presidency.
