Weygand disputes peace terms amid war council talk
At a May 25 1940 war committee meeting Weygand denied Petain ordered to fight until armies lose liaison indicating no armistice then. He said he planned the Somme Aisne battle after the north battle and rejected claims of earlier armistice pressure. Marcel Paul testified Vichy police cruelty and blamed Petain while noting fear of police surpassing Gestapo.
