The Associated Press reports that rain in Arkansas is to end Thursday. Today brings scattered to locally numerous showers and thunderstorms with some severe potential. A tornado watch issued for 14 counties in northeast and east central Arkansas was canceled before 6 a.m. The National Weather Service noted a series of weak upper levels.
Disturbances moving over Arkansas bring rain through today with Gulf moisture. A stationary front northwest of the state may pass through Thursday ending precipitation. Extended outlook shows showers Friday and Saturday, then clearing Sunday. Rain gauge reports 0.68 inches in 24 hours ending 7 am Wednesday.
Obituaries list Mrs Lillie M Hall 91 of 110 West Ave G Hope died in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. Survived by two daughters, three sisters in law, a sister, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Services Thursday 2 pm Antoine Church of Christ near Prescott with Rev Gaylon Decious officiating. Burial Antoine Cemetery. Also listed are Mrs Pearl Monts Eason 67 of Hope who died in a local hospital. services Friday 2 pm Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Revs Norris Steele and Jerry Westmoreland. L D Arnold Sr 94 of Texarkana formerly Patmos died in a Texarkana hospital. services at Providence Baptist Church with burial New Hope Cemetery. Jeffrey Moten six year old Craveside services held at Fast Memorial Gardens Texarkana. survived by parents and siblings and grandparents. A note about Charles Hlondin crossing Niagara Falls on a tight rope in 1859 and again in 1860.

Hope High School Student Council thanks contributors to the Lick Multiple Sclerosis drive held last Saturday. The campaign gathered 195 dollars and 79 cents to aid the fight against the disease. Charter members of the Academy Cemetery Board were listed with various cash gifts from W. S. Williamson and others.
