Deposition Taken in Slander Suit in Arkansas
In Little Rock at the state capital a deposition of Mike Thomas, secretary of the state highway commission, was taken by Kansas City Bridge Co lawyers in a $150,000 slander case filed by Charlex Beasley of Garland City. Beasley, former ferry operator, accuses the company of statements implying his involvement in the Red River toll bridge dynamiting in fall 1930. The case, moved from Texarkana state court to federal court in Texarkana, has no trial date set.

Gas Explosion Burns Arkadelphia Couple and Baby
A gasoline tank exploded on a motor truck near Arkadelphia as M rs Velous Cummins and her husband traveled from Minded Louisiana with their year old baby. Velous suffered extensive burns while Mrs Cummins attempted to light a match and the baby was tossed to safety. The family’s injuries were treated at a local hospital with Velous in serious condition and Mr Cummins and the infant lightly burned.

Believe Oil Industry Better Than Year Ago
R C Holmes president of the Texas Corporation told stockholders that oil prospects are better than a year ago and progress toward conservation and control of petroleum production is steady. He cited the Sharkey oil conservation bill set for a California referendum May 3 as likely to conserve California oil and limit production.
