The Associated Press reports continued chances of rain across Arkansas with showers moving through the western and northwestern regions this morning. A large pressure system draws warm moist air into the state while a low pressure area sits in Kansas and a Pacific cold front trails eastward from it.
The Hope Star reports a slow moving cold front bringing showers and thunderstorms across Arkansas with windy conditions and a weekend rain chance, highs in the 70s and 80s, and overnight lows in the 60s, with regional rainfall amounts listed. Maryland becomes the 32nd state to reinstate the death penalty, with a law mandating capital punishment for certain first degree murders following Governor Mandel's signing of 31 bills.
Henderson State University Speech and Drama presents Twelfth Night Thursday at 8 pm in Hope City Hall. Director Charles Dunham notes the comedy centers on mistaken identity and love. Cast includes Debbie Creech as Viola and Ricky Stewart as the Duke among others from Arkansas communities.
President Ford urged a robust U S Navy and warned the Soviet Union spends at least 20 percent more on defense, noting cuts halved the fleet since 1958 and a 501-ship navy as of now.
