Quakes Shake Matsushiro Town in Japan’s Alps
In Matsushiro a rural town of 22 600 near the Japan Alps has endured more than 130 000 earthquakes since last August 3. Scientists say the quakes are volcanic, centered near Mt Mini kami, with damage across homes and schools. Tourism and industry have suffered as residents fear further shaking.
