Millwood dam opposition may withdraw funding offer
In Washington on April 12 opponents of the Millwood dam on the Little River in Arkansas signaled a possible withdrawal if funds are allocated for a study of alternative paths upstream. Col Roy D. Burdick reported to the Senate appropriations sub committee that $150,000 is earmarked for Millwood dam planning and a further $50,000 could support an upper river study. Army engineers pressed restoring $7.36 million cut from Arkansas flood control budgets, arguing the comprehensive basin law will curb three fourths of annual flood losses.
