Prison Superintendent E Bishop says 25 white prisoners camped outside the mess hall protesting food. 36 prisoners began a sit down strike Friday with 11 placed in the solitary building. Spec. 4 Sammy Ray Lewis, 25, of Little Rock Arkansas, died Sunday morning at Reynolds Army Hospital after sustaining injuries Friday night in a motorcycle accident west of Lawton Oklahoma on Oklahoma 49. He served with the Fort Sill area unit and was listed as deceased at Reynolds Army Hospital.
Negotiators announced a tentative settlement in the nations first radio and television strike affecting celebrities on picket lines and film reruns. Talks with ABC CBS and NBC set a union vote, while NBC pickets remained outside Rockefeller Center. A private plane piloted by Floyd Gibson of North Little Rock Ark overshot a Springfield runway Sunday and spun to a stop across a busy street narrowly missing two occupied homes. McBay Jr is named works manager of the Westinghouse lamp division in Trenton New Jersey The announcement by Philip F Dietz notes the Trenton plant established in 1917 makes incandescent lamps and ships from a large center McBay born in Hope Arkansas holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas His prior Westinghouse roles include Little Rock Bloomfield and back to Little Rock He is active in civic work and will move with his wife and five children to the Trenton area
Hempstead County received a check from Arkansas Power & Light for 2115.89, first quarter ad valorem tax due April 17, with AP&L manager Ben F. Smith noting 1,248,738.00 in quarter checks to county collectors. 1966 tax total is 6,740,863.00. Hempstead 8,463.00 local distribution supports schools, county, and cities. AP&L government tax burden nears 21.9 million in 1966.
Grove Smith about 55 of Wells Bayou died Saturday in a Dumas hospital after a horse fell on him at his farm. Police said the incident occurred on the farm near Dumas Arkansas. The case is being investigated by local authorities.

Three people died in Arkansas weekend crashes. Joshua McNeil, 62, of Benton, was struck by a car in Benton Sunday night and died at a Saline County hospital. Charles Chalk, 54, of North Little Rock, died in Pine Bluff hospital after a one car crash north of Pine Bluff on U S 65. Chalk’s wife Elia, 58, is in critical condition in Little Rock. Robert Bussey, 25, of Camden, died when his vehicle overturned eight miles west of Prescott on Arkansas 24.

Velora Bright Hope B and PW President Norma Jean Delaney Co-District Director represented the Hope Club at an Area B and PW Spring Workshop Saturday April 8 at the Rufus Garrett Hotel in El Dorado. Twenty two clubs with sixty seven members heard ideas for the 1967 68 program of work under the theme Plan for Progress All Systems Go. Mrs Delaney spoke for 45 minutes in a Bass Session group while other speakers Trebie Shaw Roberta Yant Charlene Tipton and Betty Gordon offered program suggestions and analyses of club procedures.
