East Africa Safari truck entry shocks Arkansas rider

Arkansas writer reports on Lonnie Hudson, a Jonesboro motel operator, entering a 2 Diamond Reo truck in the East African Safari. The vehicle climbed washed trails and swamps, nearly fell off a 1000 foot drop, and was aided by a winch. Hudson averaged 49.2 mph, close to the winner's 51.1 mph. The tale also notes a Texarkana officer spotting a horse in a parked car and local city promo benches vandalized in Gravette before repairs.
