Tiremakers drop some guarantees
Major U.S. tire manufacturers eliminated road hazard and mileage guarantees, shifting focus to quality guarantees for workmanship and materials. Changes effective Jan 1 accompany a government plan to require tire test data, costing an estimated $46 million annually and adding about 23 cents per tire.
