Cold front moves through Arkansas tightening early eve shower risk

A cold front moved into the northwest corner of Arkansas this morning extending from central Missouri through northwest Arkansas to a low in north central Arkansas. The low will move northeastward along the front today and the cold front trailing it will sweep rapidly through the state by early evening. Showers and a few thunderstorms increase late this day.

Occupant killed in hotel fire in Little Rock

Billie E Garoutte 38 of near Van Buren died after a fire gutted his seventh floor room at the Grady Manning Motor Hotel. Firemen said he suffocated. The blaze heavily damaged his room and much of the floor with unknown cause. Fire reported by people at Continental Trail Wass Bus Station across from the hotel. Fire Chief Jack Davis said quick response prevented spread to other floors.

IRS director discusses income tax in Hope talk

Emmett E. Cook Jr., district IRS director in Little Rock, spoke to the Hope Lions Club about how the Little Rock office operates, filing and auditing, and fraud risks. He noted Arkansas refunds totaled 71.4 million dollars mailed to residents and cited innovations like a traveling information office and blind worker support.

Kiwanis Variety Show tickets selling fast this year

Kiwanis Club members at Town and Country heard reports from the Variety Show committee. Andy Caldwell outlined ten specialty acts, local and out of town talent, and ticket projections for performances on Thursday and Friday. Accompanist Mrs Ratnuna Streeh returns after an absence, rehearsals continue, and the show is set for April at Hell Auditorium with seating limits in mind.

Freedom Train tour opens in Delaware amid huge crowds

The Bicentennial Freedom Train bringing artifacts from American history began its two year tour in Stanton Delaware, drawing thousands as DuPont offered free admission before noon. police halted crowds and reopened the line three miles long as organizers plan to raise funds to cover an 18 million cost with 5 million already pledged by corporations.

Old Fashion Sunday Guided by First Assembly of God
