Model Cities Drops North Little Rock

North Little Rock Mayor William F. Laman was told by HUD that the city is no longer a participant in the Model Cities program. In a letter from Floyd H. Hyde, HUD cited recent correspondence and events, including the mayor's March 2, 1970 remark that the program was hopeless and his request to close it down quickly.

Pre School Enrollment for Blevins Students Set Friday

Parents with children entering Blevins School next year are asked to bring kids to the elementary school on Friday April 3 for pre school enrollment. An information card must be returned with the birth certificate. Child must be six by October 1, 1970 to enroll for 1970 71. If no information card is received, a form can be filled out that Friday, Superintendent Curtis Pharr said.

Youth Charged With Rape and Murder in Hempstead Court

Richard Neal Williams, 16, is charged in Hempstead Circuit Court with two counts of murder and one count of first degree rape for the deaths of Lou Dean Brown Cassidy and Paul Parsons near Ozan and the assault of Cassidy’s daughter. He is held without bond in Hempstead County jail after arrest in Mt. Pleasant Texas and return for questioning.

Missing Men Located by Rescue Unit in Washington

Hempstead County Rescue Unit located two 76 year old brothers W.S. and G.S. Williamson who were missing after a search for gaze. Professor G.S. Williamson had a sprained ankle. The men were found about 12:30 am by Jimmy Ogden with rescue leader Bill Routon thanking all for cooperation.
