Ottawa County Board votes 6 4 against vaccine mandate

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution opposing a federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate for employers with 100 or more workers. The move, described as a statement, leaves the county with limited authority and does not bind future action if OSHA enacts a rule. Dissenters were Frank Garcia James Holduwer Doug Zylstra and Chair Roger Bergman. Commissioner Joe Baumann was absent. The meeting at West Olive was livestreamed on YouTube.

Michigan firm to invest 205 million in Holland Township expansion

Stating plans to stay in Holland Township Request Foods unveils a 74 million Ready to Eat plant, 43 million cold storage warehouse, 81 million plant expansion, and 7 million wastewater upgrade. The total investment reaches 205 million, aided by an incentive package from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. The Michigan Strategic Fund board is involved.

Tiered no wake zones eyed for Lake Macatawa current plans

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources continues to study a tiered no wake system for Lake Macatawa tied to high water levels. Holland, Holland Township and Park Township petitioned for review, with existing no wake areas last updated in 2017 and temporary measures used last year to shield lakefront properties.
