Park Township seeks five year renewal of parks millage on Aug ballot
Park Township's Board of Trustees unanimously approved placing a five year renewal of the .5 mill parks and recreation tax on the August 7 ballot. The 1998 millage started for 10 years, renewed 2008 for another 10. They chose a five year term to align with Headlee rollback expectations. The .5 mill would be about $50 yearly for a $100,000 home. The 2008 renewal passed 2,346 to 1,076 with 68.56 percent yes. It would raise about $532,633 in its first year and may be reduced in subsequent years via Headlee.
