Facebook charged with housing discrimination in ads
New York The federal government charged Facebook with high tech housing discrimination for allegedly allowing landlords and real estate brokers to exclude groups such as non-Christians immigrants and minorities from housing ads. HUD says advertisers can target or exclude by race religion national origin and other factors and that Facebook’s system enables red lining through selective ad delivery. The case could cost Facebook millions in penalties and add to regulatory scrutiny of its data and privacy practices.
