Consumers Energy to go coal-free by 2025 plan details
Consumers Energy proposes ending coal use for electricity by 2025 and accelerating the retirement of three J.H. Campbell units in West Olive to 2025. The plan envisions 90 percent clean energy by 2040 and 8,000 MW of solar by 2040, pending Michigan Public Service Commission approval, with 310 Campbell employees and 200 at Karn plant affected. Zeeland Station remains unchanged.
