New Eateries Tap Holland and Saugatuck for Opens and Delays
Holland and Saugatuck welcome several new dining spots and progress on openings. Bambu at 184 S River Ave Holland features Vietnamese inspired tea and drinks and is West Michigan’s sixth location. OI Asian Bistro from 68 W Eighth St aims to serve Thai Vietnamese and Japanese dishes with about 80 seats, while Kitchen Zero formerly Crepe Craft faced pandemic delays. Saugatuck Fish Camp opens at Mason and Griffith in downtown Saugatuck offering fresh fish and live music Wednesdays through Sundays.

Ottawa County moves to ban drones in parks
Ottawa County commissioners approved a surveillance and recording policy 11 to 1, banning drone use on county properties including Fillmore Complex and county parks. The policy tightens restrictions while court recordings and authorized recordings in some facilities remain allowed. MDCO sued in 20th Circuit Court seeking an injunction. Judge Miedema is set to hear the case in September.

Ottawa hikes budget for Family Justice Center to 30 million
Ottawa approves increasing the county budget for its Family Justice Center from 25 million to 30 million, citing higher construction materials and labor costs. County Administrator Al Vanderberg says no further adjustments are expected, with bonds paying for the project at the Fillmore Street complex in West Olive. Granger Construction estimate stands at about 29.4 million for total construction. The 55 000 square foot center will house the Friend of the Court, juvenile court, and related staff, plus future offices, conference rooms and holding cells. The county will own the building until bonds are paid off.
