Memorial set for Fred Byrne disappeared in February
A memorial plans to honor Fred Byrne, a Holland native and former police officer who disappeared in February and whose body was found in a Missouri forest in June. Police continue to investigate, but Byrne’s family emphasizes sharing stories of his life. He was 49, a former U.S. Marine, city attorney in Big Rapids, and school board member who grew up in Holland. A memorial service is 6 to 7 pm Friday at Dunton Park on Lake Macatawa.
