Zeeland East girls track and field win their first Michigan high school state title at Zeeland Stadium on June 2, edging Holland Christian by two points. Suenomi Norvih wins high jump long jump and 100 hurdles as Zeeland East sweeps OK Green Conference, regional, MITCA, and state titles. Bria Schrotenboer represents Team USA Under-17 in a Haiti match, and Hamilton High School achieves a historic basketball season. Holland Christian places second in track and fields and claims a district softball title after 1989 drought, with standout winded performances by Windemuller and Vander Zwaag.
Zeeland East junior Aliyah Beeve earned all state honors in shot put and discus and led the Chix to the state championship while also earning all conference in volleyball. Hamilton senior earned all state honorable mention in basketball guiding the team to state quarters and was regional tennis champion who also played volleyball. Zeeland West junior earned all state soccer honors with 16 goals and six assists and played volleyball for the Dux.
Chloe Karp of West Ottawa leads in tennis and track with a third year at No. 1 singles helping her team win the OK Red and regional titles and place seventh at Division 1 state. Holland Christian’s standout wins Division 2 state in the 800, anchors relays to state crowns, and racks up all-conference soccer honors plus a basketball assists record. Zeeland East’s senior sweeps state titles in tong jump high jump and 100 hurdles, places second in 300 hurdles, and earns Miss Volleyball finalist and all-state honors while starring in volleyball, basketball, and track.
Hamilton junior earns all state honorable mention in basketball and helped Hawkeyes reach state quarterfinals while also making the U S National U 17 soccer team. West Ottawa senior places second in 100 yard breaststroke at Division 1 state, breaks school record, and finishes third in 200 free for repeated all state honors. Holland Christian seniors lead in softball, volleyball, and distance running with district titles and state medals. Zeeland East junior posts second in discus at D2 state, 13th in state shot put, and also plays volleyball. standout Holland Christian distance runner wins Division 2 state title in 1600 meters, is all state in 800 and 3200, anchors 4x800 state champion, and finishes cross country as OK Green and regional champion with a 17 50.8 time.
Hamilton senior led the Hawkeyes to the state quarterfinals as the team's top scorer and all-state selection. He also starred in tennis, earning all-conference honors and guiding the squad to the state tournament.
