Out-of-wedlock pregnancy reshapes a family secret
Dear Amy, I became pregnant 37 years ago in my twenties with a man I was engaged to marry. He dumped me when I refused an abortion and insisted on removing our child from his life. I raised our son with no child support and told his mother while seeking no contact with the father. I cannot shake annoyance that D was asked to intervene in this intimate decision, while Amy Dickinson notes the son’s future autonomy.
