Haworth will give a $1000 gross bonus to full-time global members and a $500 gross bonus to part-time global members of Haworth branded companies as of January 15 2018 to mark its 70th anniversary. Bonuses paid by end of February are in addition to other incentives.
The Commerce Department reports the fourth quarter GDP rose 2.6 percent led by the strongest consumer spending since 2016 and a rebound in home construction. Full-year growth was 2.3 percent for 2017, with economists forecasting higher gains aided by the new tax cuts and business confidence.
Local unemployment figures for December show Ottawa County near the state low, ranking fourth at 3.2 percent while Allegan is at four percent and Kent at 3.4 percent. The Grand Rapids Wyoming area, including Ottawa, stands second in the state at 3.4 percent with a slight regional labor force dip to 574,800 from 576,500. Michigan’s statewide rate rose to 4.4 percent from 4.0 in November, though it remains below December 2016’s 4.5 percent.
