Trucking firms cite age rules and culture as hiring hinders

At TransWay and Teddy's Transport, aging drivers and insurance age limits hamper recruitment. Insurers require drivers 23 with two years experience, while interstate work needs 21 to cross state lines, blocking 18 to 20-year-olds from high school. Female drivers remain underrepresented at about six percent. Companies stress family like culture, flexible home time, newer safe gear, and better pay to attract workers, but younger generations seek other careers.

Senator Feinstein pressed for a clean DACA bill, which Trump said should come first before broader overhaul. House Republicans endorsed including border security in any Dreamer deal, signaling a two phase approach.
