Winter weather brings more ice than normal in Midwest

Weather expert Leshkevich notes cold snap drives ice levels above long term averages as single digits persist. A pileup on U S 31 near Grand Rapids halted traffic with vehicles sliding and exiting the roadway. Separately, a Friday semitrailer crash closed U S 131 between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. The bitter cold and heavy snowfall affect the Midwest and East Coast with more snow expected in Erie Pennsylvania. Information for warming centers is available through local sources.
