Controversial Fennville commissioner tied to prior charges
Morgan Bolles, the new Fennville city commissioner, faced criticism after a Twitter post showed him in a shirt with a possibly homophobic slogan. The Sentinel details multiple past arrests across Ottawa Kent and Van Buren counties over the last decade, including a 2015 Grand Rapids case where he pleaded guilty to attempted assaulting a police officer. He served 51 days in Kent County Jail, paid 975 dollars, and completed 15 months probation. Earlier, in 2013, he faced charges in Ottawa County for interfering with electronic communications assault and domestic violence, pleaded no contest to a disorderly person, and served 12 days in jail with 561 dollars in fines and six months probation. The Holland Police later arrested him in Lee County.
