Salmon boom on Lake Michigan boosts Grand Haven charters

Big salmon runs in Lake Michigan attract anglers at Grand Haven with charter captains reporting average catches above 20 pounds. A 36.25 pound king on Sea Flea Too, piloted by Sam Emmons, with Kegan McPharlin and family aboard, marked the season’s biggest so far. Experts credit a balance between bait fish and predators, while MDNR has reduced stocked fish due to historically low bait supplies.
