Hope College moves 200-ton Fried Cottage to new campus site
The 1898 Fried Cottage, weighing over 200 tons, was moved a quarter mile from 112 E. 12th St. to 337 Columbia Ave with Deitz House Moving Engineers and Lakewood Construction. The structure, used as an international education residence, will house students again after repairs, planned for the next school year. The move required careful beam support and slow progress as the building could not tilt during transit.
