Holland Symphony plays crowd-pleasing summer concert at Kollen Park
A large Holland crowd enjoyed the Holland Symphony Orchestra in a free Saturday concert at Kollen Park under sunny skies. Conductor Johannes Muller Stosch led the performance featuring The Wizard of Oz, Gershwin and more, with an encore of Rocky and The Music Man themes. The next concert is September 8 at First United Methodist Church with Bach Mozart Beethoven Dellus. tickets cost 20 dollars for adults and 5 for students.

Holland’s bike boom speeds past nation in 281 percent rise
The Holland area has seen a 281 percent increase in bicycling since 2000, far outpacing the national 51 percent rise per the U S Census Bureau ACS. Benefits include better air quality fewer asthma attacks lower costs from longer lasting streets and quieter neighborhoods plus reduced crashes. The city cites 200 miles of shared paths 70 miles of on street routes and Green Commute Week as drivers of growth. A NAMCOT study links high comfort bike facilities to large ridership gains and hints at strategies to address housing and downtown development while preserving character. With bikes needing far less space than cars Holland could lead nationally at a fraction of parking infrastructure cost. The area is poised to advance a bike friendly culture with ongoing planning and upgrades.
