Road resurfacing in Holland delayed by union strike
A two mile Waverly Road resurfacing project between 16th and 48th streets in Holland is postponed to summer 2020 due to a strike by Rieth-Riley Construction workers represented by Operating Engineers Local 324. The union cites unfair labor practices after a December to September lockout and a 14 month contract gap. City officials planned completion before school begun, but will defer until after school ends in 2020 as asphalt plants resume operations.
