The 44th annual Art in the Park at Centennial Park drew thousands, with about 15,000 expected crowds on a sunny Saturday. Dozens of booths lined Central Avenue as art lovers shopped and browsed, with proceeds funding area student scholarships.
Growing Young Artists at Saugatuck Center for the Arts runs a three week, project-based program for Fennville summer school children from kindergarten to eighth grade. Art focus this year is printmaking and fiber under artist in residence Victoria Martinez, guiding 120 students with math fractions to create multi medium flags. The program, funded partly by a $10,000 Perrigo grant, aims to boost engagement, test scores and confidence, with a closing park party showcasing the students’ work.
