Bar owners reflect on changing drinking culture and Prohibition era shifts
Dave Klomparens recalls Holland Michigan bar history from the North End Tavern to The Office Bar and Grill, noting postwar attitudes toward drinking. Zeeland voters ended 104 years of prohibition in 2006, while Holland relaxed Sunday sales in 2008 as Ottawa County allowed Sunday beer and wine sales countywide. Local officials and business leaders discuss community impact, public liability concerns, and the rise of breweries like New Holland Brewing shaping the modern landscape.
