President Taft and Champ Clark remain standard bearers for the old lines while Roosevelt and Bryan suffer defeats. Some progressive papers argue that if the two leaders reconcile on leadership, a new party could emerge with those former opponents as sponsors.

Justice Court records show Boney Duran believed he acted rightly when he cursed his wife and damaged household goods. A $2000 bond was set to ensure good behavior. Tom Votoe faced a ten cent argument with a stranger, appearing alone at court where his side was deemed legally favored.
The contest race at the Daniels harness shop tightens with Miss Rilla Heward in the lead and Miss Pauline Greer close behind. Remaining contenders include Ruth Wallace May McClanahan Edna Greer Frankie Gibbons Bertha Wallace and Grace Smith.
E J Marty of Indian Wells visited town Thursday for wool shipments while Mrs Wilford of Showlow traveled Tuesday toward Seattle due to her sister's illness. The season's top wool price is 18 1/2 cents per clean long staple, bought by A Vandewort from Jas Scott of Showlow. Geo Morse of Taylor stopped by Saturday and joined The News list. Elwood Crouse, son of Mr and Mrs M A Crouse, was bitten by a dog Saturday. the arm required stitching from Dr Bazell.
A nine year old boy, son of Preston Bushman, died near Porter's tank about twenty five miles from Holbrook. He fell under a heavily loaded wagon after losing balance while returning from Holbrook with his father. Funeral services were held at Snowflake and the body interred in its cemetery.
The passage from a Northern Arizona Good Roads Association booklet invites travelers by motor from New York to Arizona to view Coronado's campsite at Bernalillo Navajo Springs the Chalcedony park near Adamana and the Hopi Snake Dance. It highlights Meteor Crater Walnut Canyon Cave Dwellings Sunset Crater and San Francisco Peaks, urging continuation on page three.
A long list of residents and visitors stop in Holbrook and nearby towns. Jack Lyons of Winslow and Chas Gardner visit St Johns and towns. many others from Flagstaff Show Low Adamana and Winslow are noted for trips, wool sales, and town business. A Jefferson Barracks soldiers unit passes through en route to Ft Apache, while local figures update on commerce, shipments, and a new cash register at Holbrook Drug Co.
E J Gibson and C T Proctor inspected Holbrook for Santa Fe railway upgrades including a 40 foot east end addition to the depot of concrete construction. The project will remodel the depot with new telegraph, ticket and express offices and waiting rooms and start next week. Extra sidetracks will be laid and wool platforms added while Parks Transportation Company builds a new express and ticket office on the east side of the Hotel Holbrook block. Material for a bath house and barber shop on the Hotel Holbrook southeast corner is being placed on site.
County Superintendent R C Smith reports a June 22 1912 Board of Education resolution from State Superintendent C O Case postponing any work to place free text books in schools this year due to the three text book act not taking effect until August 18 1912 and schools starting from mid September to late July.
S. D. Smith drove to Snowflake Sunday. Miss Vera Hall left Saturday for Showlow. J. T. Patterson lumberman from St Johns was in town Saturday. Jos. Kearns of St Johns was in town Sunday to meet his wife visiting in the east. John H. Willis Snowflake senator was en route from Phoenix to home. S. D. Woolsey stock superintendent at Whiteriver was in town Sunday, joined by Mrs Woolsey who returned from the east.
Ray residents vow speedy reconstruction following a fatal shooting in Flagstaff where Guadalupe Baldevino killed Malarez Riminez. Officers seek the shooter as authorities pursue Miramar borders. A natural lake forms in San Simon from an artesian well flow. A First State special session adjourns. Detective reports David Martinez captured in Mexico for murdering his young wife in Cochise County.
Smith led a windy trap shoot with Rencher close behind as scores climbed to 22 for Smith and 18 for Rencher. Hulet and McCleve trailed with 151 and 148 points in the High Guns standings, while Meyerhoff and Salter posted lower totals. The 1912 PuPont Trophy will be awarded next Sunday to the winner, with Hulet holding the advantage but McCleve and Rencher pressing hard.
Reverend J Andrew Arnett will preach at the old school house next Monday evening 93 15. Everyone invited to attend.
Ed Hart of Flagstaff visited Saturday while J E Crosby attended Apache county superior court in St Johns on Wednesday. A four foot bull snake invaded the post office lobby Thursday morning disturbing several boys. Two masked men killed Sam Suaffel in St Johns Thursday. bystander Sg. Lopez was shot in the arm but not seriously hurt. Arizona Co operative Mercantile received a carload of new potatoes from California. crop outlook appears large. Postal Dept seeks bids to carry mail from Holbrook to Woodruff Hunt Concho St Johns Springerville and Eagar, due July 28 for a one year contract beginning August 16.
