Winslow residents are preparing to enter the oil arena with a new company forming to drill acreage south of Winslow. Directors include H. L. Pershing R. L. Moore Dr. George P. Sampson W. G. Kelly and Walter Lyons. Officers are Dr G P Sampson president R L Moore vice president C H McKellups secretary and George H Keyes Jr treasurer. Some land held by the company is believed among the choicest in the area and Holbrook is welcome to their entry. Carl Arms Armstrong of the Coconino Sun and Frank Strother visited Holbrook yesterday.

Famous Snake Dance Set for Shimopavi on Friday
The Hopi annual snake dance will occur next Friday August 30 at Shimopavi near Toreva on the second mesa. A woman passing bad checks in Holbrook bought small items from three stores using checks signed Mrs Lucille Yates. Merchants learned no such account existed at Merchants & Stockgrowers bank. The pair fled east in a stripped Ford roadster. Sheriff Newman arrested them ten miles east of Gallup but released them as the theft was a misdemeanor.
