Bir Cunningham purchased a desirable residence tract at Hobbs city limit and awarded a modern dwelling contract. Fox Rig and Lumber Co. secured the building job, with work beginning Tuesday morning on the partly athletic-field site.
Mr and Mrs Seth Alston from Lovington visited Saturday and expressed enthusiasm for the new deal forest belt project. They support moving the forest belt toward eastern New Mexico and endorse the statewide effort.
Miss Bernice Smith of Verona Apartments returns from Verona Illinois and the Chicago fair with her niece Elinor Smith and nephew Robert Smith of DeWitt Arkansas. The children will remain a year and attend New Hobbs schools.
C L Mundt arrives in Hobbs to take action with Mission Service Station. He has years of newspaper work in Austin Texas and came to Hobbs at the invitation of his friend Mr Sample one of the proprietors of Mission Station.

Mr and Mrs Ed Stinson recently arrived from Pampa Texas to settle permanently. Mr Stinson is employed with the Empire.
IW R Eccles district highway engineer spent Thursday in town consulting with Sam, the director of local pro forma projects, about upcoming roadway upgrades and maintenance priorities.

Hobbs high football team opens its 1934 season with a game at Big Spring Friday afternoon. The local players should be on their mettle for this meet. Red Brewer of Edwards and Robinet garage departed Saturday for Chicago to visit the fair and to bring back a new car purchased by J. L. Schoolfield. On the return trip he will call at Rock Island and visit two daughters and other relatives there.
