Report from General Hospital late last night says Mrs. Mattie Patterson is very critical. A longtime resident of Hobbs she was a skilled nurse whose services were sought by many. Her son, traveling from Alabama, was due to arrive during the night, held up by heavy rain near Snyder, Texas.
The Livewire Class of intermediate boys at the Methodist Sunday school held their first outing of the season Monday evening with 16 members. After a short devotional, they played games and had lunch, and all reported a pleasant evening.
G F Wacker's Stores will begin immediate construction of a modern brick store on the site of the old Wacker's Store No 1. Fox Rig and Lumber Co. won the contract and local labor will be used as far as possible.

The U S Marine Corps will enlist 70 men in May per Lt Colonel T E Thresher Los Angeles district. Applicants must be 18 to 25 years old, 66 to 74 inches tall, with no dependents and must show high character and references.
Mrs H L Payne has been in General Hospital for two weeks and is reported to be improving and doing nicely.
