New Public School Superintendent Appointed in Honolulu

W H Babbitt succeeds James C Davis as Superintendent of the Board of Education in Honolulu on October 27. The change follows Davis resignation amid Governor Carter's dissatisfaction with the department's handling of a Maui Kahakaloa school incident. Babbitt, under thirty five, is a friend and relative of the Governor and brings latin civics teaching experience since 1896 at Oahu College. He studied at Phillips Academy and Williams College, later teaching in New York and now serving as an institution trustee. He has worked with Von Hamm Young Co and is noted for athletic interests.
